Crossroads Counselling Centre Society was incorporated in 1986 and is a non-profit organization located in Lethbridge Alberta. As a non-profit agency, we are not privately owned by anyone but are governed by a Board of Directors. This means that our goal is not to make a profit on our services but to only cover all of the costs associated with delivery of our services.

First and foremost, we are a counselling agency that is committed to providing professional and effective counselling services to anyone regardless of their gender, age, race, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, religion and non-religion. We meet people where they are at and aim to help them develop to their full potential by addressing the total person – psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual.

Secondly, we recognize that finances can be a tremendous barrier to accessing counselling therapy, and thus, we strive to remove these economic barriers for any individuals, couples, or families that want to access counseling services. This is accomplished with the use of subsidies, which are made possible through the generous donations of many Southern Alberta residents, businesses, and churches & through the ongoing support of FCSS Lethbridge.

Values

1. Faith

Crossroads is a faith ministry, recognizing our dependence on a generous God for provision and direction. Our faith is an important part of Crossroads’ success, as it provides us with the strength, grace, and confidence to serve those who are hurting and in need, no matter what their background, in a way that is respectful of them and their beliefs.

2. Teamwork

Our Board of Directors, Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers are dedicated to the following:

  • working collaboratively towards a shared purpose;
  • operating with a high degree of transparency;
  • recognizing our interdependence and demonstrating respect for one another in our respective roles and the overall performance of the agency;
  • striving to remain open to the changing needs of society, the agency, and our clients, and to fully embrace the responsibility for self-examination, discovery, and renewal.

3. Stewardship

We are committed as a Board of Directors, Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers to ensure that the resources with which we are entrusted by our stakeholders are used wisely and lead to meaningful change in the lives of our clients.

4. Professionalism & Personal Excellence

In all tasks we strive to achieve standards of excellence. By carefully examining the need for and relevancy of the services we provide and by clearly understanding the results of our agency’s actions and their corresponding consequences to all of our stakeholders, we will pro-actively adjust our programs and delivery both personally and agency wide as required. Structured monitoring and oversight to ensure that our services meet quality standards of practice prompts us to ensure our staff training and development remains relevant and current.

5. Acceptance

All persons who receive services from Crossroads Counselling Centre Society can expect to be treated with respect and dignity regardless of gender, age, race, socio-economic background, sexual orientation, religion and non-religion.

6. Integrity

Crossroads’ aim is to be accountable and transparent to all whom we serve and to do so with integrity. We strive to earn the same trust and commitment from our affiliates and our clients.

7. Compassion

While we use numbers to evaluate the effectiveness of our programs/services, we do not lose sight of the unique individuality of every person we serve and the corresponding outcomes that this affects.

8. Community Partnerships

The success of counselling therapy is often even greater if conducted in conjunction with parallel services. We are committed to a spirit of collaboration and reciprocity with churches, community groups, and partner agencies to facilitate timely and effective referrals, ensuring that our respective clients receive the best care possible.

9. Fun

Our work is paradoxical. We intentionally strive to celebrate the accomplishments of our team and our clients and we fully embrace the need to maintain a healthy sense of balance in our work and in our personal lives.
