Counselling

Session fees are dependent upon the designation of the counsellor and range from $115 - $150 per hour. A counselling hour consists of 50 minutes of one-on-one therapy and 10 minutes for the counsellor to record confidential session notes for the clients file.

Note: While the fee recommended by the Psychologists Association of Alberta is $200 per session, we are doing what we can to keep our fees lower, and thus, our services more accessible to prospective clients.

If you are financially unable to cover these fees, please see our subsidy options.

Workshop/Group

These few vary and are dependent upon our source of funding for the program. Please see workshops for more specific details.

Cancellations

We understand that unforeseen events such as car problems, traffic considerations, business meetings, illnesses, and childcare concerns (to name a few) can occur. However, since your counselling requires your therapist to reserve a significant amount of time exclusively for your benefit, we have a policy regarding cancellations and missed appointments that we’ve developed while trying to be fair to you, your counsellor, and other clients who need appointments.  You are free to refuse and/or withdraw from counselling at any time but because your appointment is reserved for you, it is necessary to charge you $25 for appointments that are not cancelled at least 24 hours in advance or are missed. Payment for this fee must be received prior to the commencement of the next scheduled appointment.

Please note that charges for late cancelled and missed appointments often cannot be submitted for health insurance reimbursement.

Other

In addition, fees are charged for the following:

  • Reports and letters written on behalf of clients
  • Returned and NSF cheques ($25)
  • Transferring your file to another agency

Employee Assistance Plans (EAPs)

We currently provide counselling services for a few of the providers. You must contact your provider and they will contact us with the referral. If you want to see a counsellor at our site and your EAP provider indicates that we do not have a contract with them, please contact us at website@crossroadscounselling.ca and we will look into establishing a contract with them.

Other Organizations

In the event that another agency, a church, or a business (usually the referring party) is willing to cover the fees for a client, we are able to set up a charge account for that organization and bill them for the applicable fees once per month. Please contact the Executive Director at (403) 327-7080 to initiate this process.
